Anyone tell me the pros and cons of an aladdin lamp?

By aladdin lamp, I am of execution talking about the lamp with a tall chimney that runs on kerosene.

I grew up using this standard of lamp. We burned Kerosene and it was my sisters job to clean the globes everyday. It was my job to keep the lamps filled with oil , and trim the wick . The are very low-priced to operate and will last for years.
The can be very dangerous. If one is knocked over, a large fir can result. The globes are fragile and can be easily broken. And of speed you always have the smell of burning Kerosene in the home.
We did not get electricity in our home until the mid fifties and our family all read and studied and worked by kerosene lamps and lanterns.
