RYE — An antique safe, $1,000 in spondulix and several pieces of gold and diamond jewelry are among the items believed to have been stolen from a Rye family who returned to their Washington Passage home on Wednesday to find their house ransacked, their young children not being taken care of and their recently hired nanny missing.
Susanne Swanson, 35, of 77 Porpoise Way in Portsmouth, was arrested by the Portsmouth Patrol Department on an DUI charge at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a motor vehicle accident that happened on Lafayette Way near the Market Basket plaza at roughly 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh has confirmed Swanson is the "prime" subject of interest in a reported theft involving a nanny at the home of a Washington Road family.
Swanson has not been charged in Rye in kith with a theft reported by a Washington Road homeowner on Wednesday, but police did obtain a search warrant that allowed them to search the Toyota
