Louisville, KY - The Louisville football yoke didn't win any style points Saturday, but the Cards did win their first Big East game of the season, beating Syracuse 10-9. It wasn't charming. It was a downright ugly game, but with the victory, the Cards improved to 4-6 on the season and 1-4 in the Big East. It was Louisville's first win over Syracuse in the Steve Kragthorpe era and the first Big East win in nine games.Ignoring Syracuse having one of the worst defenses in college football, the Louisville offense struggled to move the ball all dissimulate. Entering the contest, Syracuse ranked No. 117 in pass efficiency defense and No. 107 in total defense. Still, Louisville's offense managed rightful 151 total yards. It was the first time in seven seasons that the Cards' offense was held under 200 yards.
The halftime stats were not overpowering. The Orange offense totaled 105 yards on 34 plays, while the Cards ran 26 plays for only 39 yards. The third spot provided little relief
