Unlocked blackberry?
Jun 07, 2008 by shadowfiend@yahoo.com | Posted in Cell Phones & Plans
Ok I've been reading a lot on the internet lately about unlocking phones and how ice and cheap it is in the long run. I was wondering I have a blackberry 7290, which my mom got off ebay, yet I was able to put in my sim card (which was originally in a T-Mobile phone) and it worked elegant! What does this mean? Is my blackberry unlocked or is it just with T-Mobile like my old phone? If thats the case what will happen if I unlock it? What do I want to do to unlock it?
Thanks a lot very confused!!!
I've been looking online while this question is being answered and I've figured out that it is locked. Now that I think about it I couldn't use it in Costa Rica when I went last year, I forgot about that. The Blackberry is orinaly from Marocco. (or that was the dated it was set to when I opened the package) so I thought it might be, and with the ease of the sim card I though it was garenteed. I think I'll still look into it being unlocked, however I have another question what happens when its unlocked? I bet this sounds dim... Who do you pay for minutes, text, internet all that jazz?
T-Quick did carry the Blackberry 7290, so it might just be a T-Mobile phone. If it is, you can contact T-Mobile to get it unlocked to use with a different carrier. You will need to specify the IMEI (dial *#06# to show it) and will need to be an authorized user on your account to request it.
If it isn't a T-Mobile phone, then if it works with your T-Movable account's SIM it is already unlocked. Does it say T-Mobile anywhere?
